Bangladesh Energy and Power Summit 2018

A two-day “Bangladesh Energy and Power Summit 2018” will be held in Dhaka on June 26-27, aimed at discussing the problems and potentials of the energy sector as well as sharing knowledge of experts and experiences from across the world.

 Adviser to Prime Minister on Power, Energy and Mineral Resources Affairs Dr. Tawfiq-e-Elahi Chowdhury BB will be the chief guest at the opening session of the international conference to be held at Pan Pacific Sonargaon Dhaka on June 26 while Chairman of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on the Ministry of Power, Energy & Mineral Resources Md. Tazul Islam, MP, will be present as special guest.

 Energy sector experts, academics, economists and stakeholders both from home and abroad as well as multilateral development partners, multinational and local energy sector stakeholders will take part in the discussion and share their experiences at the two-day deliberations and networking event.

 WISPOOL Group, an event management company of China, and Energy & Power, an energy sector fortnightly published in Dhaka, jointly organized the event.

 In the sessions, experts will take stock of the world-wide nuclear power development & lessons learnt, Bangladesh LNG market and future prospects, LPG market and latest updates — Challenges from the fierce competition and potential risks in a deregulated market; Challenges of implementing safety standards in LPG sector;  What needs to be done from the government and private side to better develop the LPG market? And outlook for LPG demand in the coming 5-10 years in Bangladesh.

 Panel discussions will be held on “Energy and Power Project Financing and Investment and Regional Experience” highlighting the current status of power and energy project financing in Bangladesh; Evaluating the latest power project financing in Bangladesh; Regional experience and trends in power and energy project financing and risk management; Renewable energy and conventional power project financing and challenges and key implications for Bangladesh.

 On the second day, discussion on “Power Plant Development and O&M” will be held when experts will share experience on the Ultra-Supercritical Circulating Fluidized Bed Boiler Technology, a high value Carbon and Fuel Flexible option for Utility power in Bangladesh; Best Practices and Operational Excellence in Power Plant Development and O&M; and Transformer is Going Green with Increased Load Ability & Fire Safety.

 Another discussion on Renewable Energy and Solar PV will take place in parallel on the day, followed by the sessions on “Future Trends in Power and Energy Sector: Role of Artificial Intelligence and Internet of Things” and “Smart Grid and Future Energy” before closing the summit
